When was GreeenwoodVideo established?Greenwoodvideo began filming weddings back in 1989.
Is it necessary to have a wedding Video?Absolutely! Well we would say that wouldn't we? The truth is that many couples don't budget for a professional video of their wedding at all, thinking that the photos are enough.
However, things have changed so much in the wedding film industry just in the last few years alone. There is a new breed of filmmaker who specialise in the wow factor, offering fantastic high definition visuals, slick editing and new techniques to bring wedding films out of the 80s and 90s.
This new breed use high-end tapeless video cameras, and large chip DSLR's with interchangeable lenses for those cool depth of field shots you see in the movies. We use stabilizers to keep the visuals nice and steady, such as steadicams, sliders and even cranes in large budget productions to bring that touch of the movies to your film. Gone is the wind roars and distant crowd chattering, to be replaced by crisp clear audio and digital musical soundtracks. Greenwoodvideo are proud to be counted as one of these new breed of wedding cinematographer, adapting our skills and techniques to capture wonderful stories of your wedding day in beautiful High Definition.
A good wedding video is something to treasure for life.
I’m not sure what Style I want?Your film can be filmed in one of two Styles (opens in new window)
Cinematic
Defined as making a movie or feature film, within the wedding videography industry cinematic movies have become a huge success! They are captured and edited for the dramatic effect and mood of a modern feature film.
It's a great way to bring in the drama and enchantment of the day and the visuals are stunning. Will be captured with at least two videographers but more can be available if required. We do use a small crane now and then, but for an extra charge you can hire a large crane and operator to capture extra impact to your visuals.
Short Form Wedding Edit
The short form edit is more about telling a story of the day, anchored on an event of the day such as the speeches or ceremony, using time shift techniques to bring emotion and style to your wedding film. As the name suggests, the short form edit is shorter than a traditional film. Short form wedding edits can run from 15 to 50 minutes. (You get the whole edited wedding ceremony and the whole of the speeches on separate DVD discs).
A Short Form Edit has all the key elements of the day, the emotions are more deep than a traditional film, and can be easily watched on a number of different formats such as the Internet, Facebook, iPad/iPhone, Blu-ray on HD TV as well as DVD. It is now considered the best way to film and edit a wedding as it brings in so much sole, emotion and drama in a short amount of time, yet these films (done correctly) have more watch ability and power than any other type of wedding film.
It takes a lot of work to create a truly amazing Short Form, and it takes longer to edit than more tradition films. Filming begins at the brides home and ends after the first dance. If you have a Love Story pre wedding shoot, these too can be incorporated into your short form master piece.
Is GreenwoodVideo licensed and Insured?Yes, we have public liability and professional indemnity insurance and of course all our kit is insured. We obtain the correct licenses for music copyright and each DVD Box set will come with a PPL license hologram to make the use of your music tracks perfectly legal and above board (for private home use).
How long will the Wedding film be?Unless you are talking about alcohol, quality is better than quantity. We offer cinematic style wedding films which are shorter than the reporter style films from the past (that could run for hours). This doesn't mean our film is less cost effective, it just means we put much more effort into editing your film to make it even more special! You still get the whole ceremony and speeches on a separate chapter that you may watch once or twice (or a separate disc if they are very long).
Short Form wedding edits that are quite simply out of this world. These tend to grab moments from the day to tell a story and can run from 15 to 50 minutes - we aim for about 25 minutes.
You are a long way away, will you make it to our wedding on time?If your wedding is 100 miles or more from us, we'll travel to your location the day before your wedding and stay the night. This way we can perhaps see you the evening before the wedding for a chat, and be fresh and ready to begin filming the following morning.
Won’t two cameramen get in the way?We always use two videographers in our weddings. We structure what the videographers cover on the day to get the most out of them.... for instance we can have one camera at the brides homes, while the other is filming the guests arriving at the ceremony locations. The ceremony is filmed from the front and the back. One camera is at the ceremony location while the other heads for the reception and so on....
We hope that our videographers don't get in the way of either the guests nor other officials such as photographers at your wedding. However they are always present to get those shots that make our films stand out. With two videographers there is less chance of missing anything.
Do you belong to any professional organisation? Yes, we belong to the Institute of Videography, a professional body set-up to serve both it's members and it customers. Belonging to a body such as this offers us backing from other videographers if the need ever arose, better training techniques and events to better our equipment and performance.
Every member must abide by the bodies strict code of practice.
There is a Free impartial Arbitration Service to offer assistance between disputes between videographers and customers offering piece of mind that you're hiring a professional videographer for the most important day of your life.
When will the wedding video be ready?Filming the wedding is only a part of the production, the real work begins in the studio and we spend at least 10 times of the filming hours to edit and polish the clips. We only do a select number of weddings a year so we can dedicate our time to each customer.
Depending on the length of filming, about 70-80 hours editing time will be put aside for an all-day wedding. There may be a delay before we start editing your wedding when we are very busy, but rest assured that you won't be waiting for it for months and months on end!
We will edit a "Coming Soon" trailer as soon as possible for you to give you a taster of the film to come, and for you to send to friends and relatives while you’re waiting. The finished films are definitely worth the wait!
I'm afraid we don't allow customers to have the raw footage unless this is something agreed too prior to booking the wedding. Your video will contain all the best footage of the day, just as a photographer uses the best shots for an album. For short form wedding films, ALL the original footage from the ceremony and speeches will be edited and supplied on a separate disk (or as an extra on your wedding DVD/Blu-ray).
Unedited footage is largely unwatchable as cameras are kept running even when being moved, for synchronisation reasons. Some footage is without audio when we are recording off camera onto separate recorders, relying on camera mics that can be inadequate. Unedited footage will not match your video in terms of colour correction, brightness & contrast etc and we tend to use multiple cameras, all edited together.
The original sound would embarrass some people. Private conversations are picked up on audio and edited out if not suitable. We are often asked on the day, to ensure that certain items are edited out by guests.
